孔梁巧玲傑出人文學者  楊紫燁女士

楊紫燁,資深華人電影工作者,在香港出生。1977年從香港移民到美國三藩市 ,先後取得繪畫和電影製作碩士學位 。曾導演和剪輯多部影片和紀錄片,並獲得多個國際奬項,包括奧斯卡奬、艾美奬、 Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award 等。

其執導的《潁州的孩子》(The Blood of Yingzhou District ) 追蹤採訪了安徽阜陽潁州地區受愛滋病影響的家庭,對當地愛滋孤兒的生活做了詳實的紀錄,2007年獲得第79屆奧斯卡最佳紀錄短片奬和許多國際奬項的榮譽。另一影片《仇崗衛士》 (The Warriors of Qiugang ) 講述了安徽省仇崗村村民與當地一家化工廠抗爭的經歷,在2011年獲得美國奥斯卡最佳紀錄短片獎提名,同年楊導演受邀當選奧斯卡金像獎評委 。

楊紫燁也曾在多部影片中擔任剪輯師,包括美籍華裔電影人陳衝執導並獲台灣金馬奬7項大奬的《天浴》(Xiu Xiu: The Sent-down Girl),以及陳沖進軍荷里活的作品《紐約的秋天》(Autumn in New York)。

她還擔任前美國白宮新聞秘書、著名電視主持人比爾莫耶斯(Bill Moyers)所製作《成為美國人:華人的經歷》(Becoming American: The Chinese Experience) 的系列編導。該系列紀錄片獲得4項艾美奬提名,2003年在公共電視台PBS播出後獲得公眾極大關注, 已被美國多所中學、大學定為教科書和亞裔研究教材。

2003年楊紫燁與美國資深電影製作人湯列倫先生(Thomas Lennon) 創立倡愛文化傳播 (Chang Ai Media Project ) [前身為中國預防愛滋病宣傳項目(China AIDS Media Project )]。他們共同策劃製作的愛滋病相關紀錄片和公益廣告在中國的收視率高達9億多人次。

楊紫燁在美國導演的紀錄片包括《風雨故園》(Citizen Hong Kong ) 和《中國一二》(China 21) 備受海內外關注。 《風雨故園》反映了一九九七香港回歸前後香港年輕人的思想狀態。 《中國一二》真實反映了中國改革開放二十多年來,新一代年輕人的心態以及中國城鄉地區家庭面貌的差異。

楊紫燁現居香港,自2013 年9月獲香港大學邀請擔任「孔梁巧玲傑出人文學者」,於港大教授紀錄片製作,以及拍攝了廣受好評的《爭氣》和《尋找完美第5度》。

Ruby Yang


Ruby Yang is a noted Chinese American Filmmaker whose work in documentary and dramatic films has earned her an Academy Award, two Academy nominations, and numerous other international awards, including an Emmy, the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Journalism Award, and the Global Health Council Media Award.

Along with producer Thomas Lennon, Yang founded the Chang Ai Media Project in 2003. Since then, the organisation's documentaries and public service announcements promoting AIDS awareness have been seen more than 900 million times. Chang Ai's trilogy of short documentary films about modern China, all directed by Yang, include The Blood of Yingzhou District, which won an Oscar in 2007, The Warriors of Qiugang, which received an Academy nomination for best documentary short in 2011, and Tongzhi in Love, which was short-listed in the same category in 2008.

Prior to her work in Beijing, Yang directed the 1997 production Citizen Hong Kong, which the Chicago Reader called "unflinching in its honesty, vivid in its kaleidoscopic imagery".

As series Editor of Bill Moyers' Becoming American – the Chinese Experiences (PBS, March 2003), Yang supervised editing for the entire series, which received four Emmy nominations.

Born in Hong Kong, Yang moved to San Francisco in 1977. She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in painting and an MFA in filmmaking. She relocated to Beijing in 2004 and currently lives in Hong Kong.

Yang was appointed by The University of Hong Kong as Hung Leung Hau Ling Distinguished Fellow in Humanities in 2013, she has been teaching at the University and produced well-received documentaries "My Voice, My Life" and “In Search of Perfect Consonance”.
